How To Use

To
achieve a natural finish on raw or stripped wood with Gilly
Stephenson's waxes and polishes, just follow these simple
instructions...
- Apply
one to three coats of Restoring polish and New Timber Polish. The first
application may not even need buffing up as the wood may absorb most of
it. Subsequent coats can be applied straight away. When working with
pine or other absorbent wood an initial sealing coat - sanded back to a
fine finish - of clear shellac of sanding sealer etc, is a good idea
particularly, and then use Gilly Stephenson's Clear Restoring Polish
and New Timber Polish. This will help to reduce the porosity of the
timber. Alternatively, for a completely non-toxic satin finish, Gilly
Stephenson's Orange Oil can be used on raw wood.
- Apply at least two coats of Cabinet Makers' Wax, preferably
using 0000 Wire Wool. Buff with a soft cloth between coats. The number
of applications will depend on the finish required. One coat may
suffice intially and then apply a second coat in a couple of weeks.
- Finish and maintain with the Cream Polish applied sparingly and buffed off with a clean soft cloth.
Gilly
Stephenson's Carnauba Polish is an excellent friction polish for use on
the lathe and can also be used on raw wood and buffed with a pine brush.
